CBS announced today that it has renewed the freshman hit drama GOD FRIENDED ME for the 2019-2020 broadcast season.
GOD FRIENDED ME is a humorous, uplifting drama about Miles Finer, an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from "God" and unwittingly becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him. The series stars Brandon Micheal Hall as Miles, along with Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie and Joe Morton.

I found “God Friended Me” by accident. I thought it was going to be completely hokey and I would only watch it for a few minutes. But, I became a fan. Although every situation is rather contrived, it’s still very good. As an Episcopal priest I was especially interested in Miles’ father being an Episcopal priest. I think they have presented that well; for the most part. While they certainly don’t know much about Episcopal polity, I can forgive them that, However, NO Episcopal priest ever says anything like “When I decided to become a ‘reverend'”. They would say when I decided I was called to be a priest…”Episcopal priests, are referred to as “Father” or “Mother’. I would have even accepted their saying ‘pastor’, but the term ‘reverend’ is a written title; as in “The Reverend…”It is the same as calling a judge “Honorable”. A judge would never say, “When I became an ‘honorable”. Although I don’t think this is a ‘little’ thing, little things CAN make a big difference. I hope they will correct this in Season 2 getting some advice from someone in the Episcopal Church who knows better.
