About Poldark
Update: September 6, 2016 - Filming has now begun on the third season/series of Poldark, which premieres June 11, 2017. The BBC has issued the following press release:

It’s 1794 and Ross must traverse new family, new loves and new battles, as the French revolution casts a great shadow over life in Cornwall.
And joining the cast are a host of new characters, explains Mammoth Screen Executive producer Karen Thrussell: "It's with real excitement that we introduce three very talented young actors to the world of Poldark - Harry Richardson and Tom York playing Demelza's brothers Drake and Sam, and Ellise Chappell as Morwenna, Elizabeth's cousin. All are major players in the next volume of Winston Graham and Debbie Horsfield's saga!"
Elizabeth’s cousin, Morwenna, (Ellise Chappell - New Blood) finds herself in George Warleggan’s employment as a governess in order to support her sisters and widowed mother. However Morwenna soon discovers that there are things more important in life than one’s sense of duty or place…
As for Demelza’s brothers, Sam (Tom York - Olympus) arrives in his sister’s world determined to follow in his father’s footsteps, by spreading the Methodist word. But how can Sam profess to save strangers when his own brother courts temptation?
Drake (Harry Richardson - Doctor Thorne), is a good-natured free spirit who has many of the qualities of his sister Demelza. He seeks his own place in the world and finds himself unwilling to settle for the limits life seeks to impose, especially concerning his romantic destiny.
Also back to film series three are Heida Reed as Elizabeth, Jack Farthing as George Warleggan, Ruby Bentall as Verity, Gabriella Wilde as Caroline Penvenen and Luke Norris as Dr Dwight Enys, John Nettles as Ray Penvenen, Beatie Edney as Prudie and Caroline Blakiston as Aunt Agatha.
Writer and executive producer Debbie Horsfield says: "We’re thrilled to be kicking off series three with a fantastic array of new characters and a story which scales new heights of conflict, feuding, passion and drama. Ross is older but not necessary wiser, and his recklessness sometimes costs him, and his loved ones, dear. We’re in for a rollercoaster ride where the stakes have never been higher."
Poldark is adapted by Debbie Horsfield (Cutting It, The Riff Raff Element) produced by Roopesh Parekh (The Hollow Crown: The Wars Of The Roses; And Then There Were None) and Michael Ray (Poldark) and directed by Josh Agnew (Mr Selfridge, Jekyll and Hyde) and Stephen Woolfenden (second unit director on Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them). Debbie Horsfield continues to serve as executive producer alongside Tom Mullens, Karen Thrussell and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen and Elizabeth Kilgarriff for the BBC.

After months of speculation it is confirmed that Aidan Turner will be back for a third series of the award-winning hit BBC One drama Poldark.
Series two of the hugely popular drama, which is coming soon to BBC One, stars Turner as the nation's hero Ross Poldark and Eleanor Tomlinson as his wife Demelza, in ten new episodes adapted by Debbie Horsfield from the novels by Winston Graham.
And as the drama hits television screens across the UK filming will commence on the next installment - series three - of the Cornish saga.
Production company Mammoth Screen has confirmed that Horsfield will be writing further episodes of Poldark, which will be filmed in even more stunning locations across Cornwall and Bristol later this year, for transmission in 2017.

The debut series peaked with 9.4 million viewers across TV and iPlayer, generating phenomenal media interest which culminated in it winning the Radio Times Audience Award at this year’s Baftas.
Mammoth Screen Managing Director Damien Timmer says: "Poldark is a passion project for all of us, and it's with real excitement that we prepare for both the launch of series two and our return to Cornwall to shoot series three. Winston Graham and Debbie Horsfield's extraordinary flair for storytelling means the saga of Ross, his friends and enemies will go to even more thrilling places!"
Elizabeth Kilgarriff, Executive Producer for the BBC, says: "Series two promises to take the audience on another fantastic rollercoaster ride and we're thrilled to know that the story won't end there. It's a testament to Debbie's brilliant storytelling and the passion of the Mammoth team that Poldark will be returning for a third series, with yet more twists and turns for these much-loved characters."
