FUSE RENEWS ORIGINAL SERIES STARRING BIG FREEDIA
Big Freedia Bounces Back with New Series Name and Hour-Long Episodes
NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES – December 15, 2016 – Fuse (www.fuse.tv), a national television network for the fast-growing, Latino and multicultural 18-34 audience, today announced the renewal of its most popular series for its sixth season. With a new name and double the episode length, Big Freedia Bounces Back (8 episodes x 60 minutes; formerly Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce) will return to Fuse summer 2017.
Last season, viewers were left wondering ‘what will happen next?’ as they saw a rollercoaster of highs and lows in Freedia’s professional and personal life: the “Queen of Bounce” recorded with the other Queen B – Beyoncé; Freedia landed a new manager and thus a new career in film; and she continued to shine as a mentor in the ever-changing lives of her professional dancers. Eventually a more dramatic chapter in her life emerged as she battled Mississippi anti-twerking laws and the more serious charge of federal housing violations.
“Fuse continues to enjoy an ongoing relationship with the multi-talented and immensely popular Big Freedia, who has been a key driver of our linear and digital audience,” said Michael Dugan, VP Original Content for Fuse Media. “Our viewers have followed Freedia’s journey, including the highs and lows that have been documented across several seasons. We are all looking forward to watching the story continue to unfold as she bounces back in season six.”
“Big Freedia puts the ‘real’ in reality and her unique authenticity guarantees a TV series that is unlike any other,” said Fenton Bailey, executive producer, World of Wonder. “Fuse recognized Big Freedia’s star power from day one, and it’s been exciting to work together as she’s evolved into an international powerhouse,” added World of Wonder Executive Producer Randy Barbato. “The new season is going to be bigger, badder and realer than ever. Be very afraid!”
When the series returns, Freedia will allow cameras in for a closer, extended look at her journey to renew and reinvent herself. The new, longer episodes will follow a clean and sober Freedia, ready for a new lease on life, and with many surprises along the way. The series will again be produced by World of Wonder Productions.
