About The Island with Bear Grylls

The Island with Bear Grylls Series 4 released April 23, 2017 on Channel 4. Series 4 spanned five episodes through April 27, 2017.

Two separate groups from two different generations are abandoned on a pair of remote uninhabited islands in the Pacific Ocean. On one island, eight castaways aged between 18-30, and on the neighbouring island a group of 8 much older castaways. Neither group knows the other is there, but will they find each other?

An 18-year-old student, a detective constable and a hard working 66-year-old businessman are amongst the 16 Islanders
Ages span across five decades – will the enthusiasm and energy of youth trump the experience and wisdom of age?

This fourth series looks at the generation gap and if stereotypes about the young and the old ring true. Who is better equipped to thrive in a survival situation?

Of the thousands who applied just 16 were chosen to take part. As they face treacherous weather conditions, severely limited resources, environmental hazards and near starvation, the two groups have a long, hard battle ahead of them.
