When Calls The Heart Season 5 released February 18, 2018 on Hallmark Channel.
“When Calls the Heart” tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coalmining town where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges. Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion. The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the mines to keep a roof over their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) who believes Thatcher’s wealthy father has doomed the lawman’s career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate’s daughter. Living in a turn of the century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.

This is the best show on TV only if Jack is in it, I can’t understand why they have to send Jack away all the time. What a shame for the show. If he goes so do I. It is bad enough that Frank is going but don’t let Jack go to.

I like Mounties and have decided to find other Mountie shows. When Calls the Heart has become like a nighttime soap opera. With the population increase, I feel I’m having a hard time keeping up with who’s with whom.

I am glad that this has been renewed for another season. This is my favorite show on TV today. I do, however, think that Jack should be on these episodes. I do think that if he does not want to continue on this show that he might as well leave and be done with it. This coming and going is not good and gets a little old after awhile.
I completely agree. I love this show but would like for Jack to be in or out. I feel we are waiting on him to make his mind up one way or the other. I wonder if he came back to give fans a long awaited wedding which, by the way, I did love!

When calls the heart is a wonderful show i have watched it over and over again on Netflix and have recorded the new shows.
When Jack comes back from assignment i think I am as happy as Elizabeth.

I can’t believe you would erase Jack off the show, for whatever reason, actor gets other work, etc. I refuse to watch it if jack is off. That is too easy of a script, Daniel L. can’t act on some of the shows, so they writers get rid of him. Please, that is not fair to the many viewers who want to see Elizabeth and he make a go of it. We had to wait long enough for him to appear. Their lives together symbolize what many couples had to go through in settling western territories: struggles, children, hardships through the years. Don’t kill one of the two main actors. I refuse to watch if jack is off. What a let-down. Makes it more soap-opera like, than reality based.

I too love this show only if Jack is on. After last night’s episode and killing Jack off, I know of a lot of people that will not be watching this show anymore, including me. I hope by season 6 they reconsidered and just say Jack was wounded and will return. Without him, you might as well cancel the show now.
I can’t wait for Sundays just so I can watch the show. But without Jack and Elizabeth as a couple, I may not keep watching. PLEASE bring Jack back asap!!
Sheesh people, maybe the actor is the one who wants out….give Hallmark a break! If their writing got us to love this couple, don’t you think we’ll love the next man they bring into Elizabeth’s life? Get a grip! It’s a TV show! Albeit a great one
This is my favorite show…I don’t watch a lot of TV but I never miss an episode and have watched it from the beginning. While I hate that Jack may not be back I will continue to watch. You just don’t know what will happen and while we have to wait a long 10 months to find out, I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
Hallmark channels has been a delightful escape from the regular TV shows. More wholesome, loving, FAMILY oriented cute funny movies and shows to watch WITHOUT sex, vulgar language and the absence of just shear plan meanness. If WCTH is not renewed I will surely be so disappointed with this decision. I have previously watched several other series which Hallmark discontinued, Cedar Cove, no reason given for that shows cancellation. Signed Sealed and Delivered, series cancelled although periodic movies have replaced the weekly series. As for Daniel Lissing’s ( Jack Thorton) character MIA status as it is unknown, I believe the viewers have a right to know if he is NOT returning by his choice or Hallmarks’, this clarity may provide the fans/viewers with a sense of closure and maybe exceptance for his character being written out of the cast. I can only add to the above comments regarding the absence of Jack and how it will impact the show. I will continue to watch, because I see a story line relationship looming between the current and former Mayor. Smile.
Somehow it seems as though the viewers comments have little if any impact on Hallmarks decisions for the continuation of Hallmark channels shows and movies line up and that is sad. Without the viewers there is not a Hallmark Channel(s).
Personally some of the series movies which Hallmark continues to run all the Murder Mysteries and OLD series like MONK, Columbo, OMG, MURDER SHE WROTE, GOLDEN GIRLS, MATLOCK, should be cancelled.
I Love this show and wait for each episode each week! Don’t cancel…..keep going…..Even in real life loved ones die and the spouse (after the mourning period), will sooner or later come across someone else to share their lives with…..it is just a part of real life! It is very heart breaking…but life does go on! I know I lost my son just last May 2017….we were very close to each other and I miss him dearly! He use to watch these shows with me and we both looked very much forward to them. I think the WCTH characters are doing a GREAT job and THUMBS UP to all them and Hallmark! Keep up the GREAT WORK! Remember Elizabeth is Pregnant….”WONDERFUL” and what a BLESSING!
I would also like to see them keep on renewing the contract and keep the series going. I love the show. I just hated when they let Jack go. It was so sad. To bad that Elisabeth would fall in love with someone that looks similar to Jack.

I love this show as well. Have watched it over and over again. I have never been so sad at a TV show as when Jack died. It will be interesting to see where season 6 picks up. Will it be several months down the road and Elizabeth has had the baby or will we be sent on a journey thru the entire pregnancy. I also wish Frank would return. I really liked the chemistry between Frank and Abigail. I also hope Carson is back. Lots to look forward to in season 6.
I have watched WCTH from the beginning. Not only that, but I also have every episode in my video library. I too was taken aback by the storyline that killed off, albeit heroically, the character of Jack Thornton. Daniel Lissing did a masterful job of creating the role. But like a lot of us, he had a dream and project close to his heart that was consuming. He had to leave to pursue it. I wish him well, and thank him for his body of work. I am not a fairweather Heartie myself. I will be staying. I am looking forward to Season Six and beyond. The original hard-luck town of “Coal Valley” knew what real adversity was. When we first met them, getting off the stage with young Elizabeth Thatcher, almost everyone in that little town had lost a loved one in a horrific mining accident. But they pulled together and, helping each other, moved forward. I was drawn into their story. I will be there for the 2018 Christmas episode and Season Six.
Just finished session 5 on Netflix. I am so disappointed that you killed Jack off. I hope we are going to find out it was a mistake and he comes back to find Elizabeth pregnant.
I just finished watching season 5 with Jacks death it was so sad but had a surprise ending with Elizabeth pregnant . I watched the show since the beginning . The writers of the show have done a great job and each character has an enduring quality to them watching them grow. Hope Elizabeth will find love again. I am a loyal watcher cant wat for the new season.
We need to remember that Elizabeth still had Charles dancing around her in Hamilton. How would Charles do in Hope Valley? Could be interesting.
First I want to say how much I thoroughly enjoy When Calls the Heart, it’s wonderful to see something so clean and wholesome on television again that can be watched with the entire family. Not since The Waltons and Little House On the Prairie have I loved something this much!
But, OMG!!! I just started watching the series and I am in Love!!! I wish I hadn’t read the comments as now I know Jack dies, WHAT!!!!!
The chemistry between Elizabeth and Jack was real! I’m absolutely heartbroken that he is gone, say it isn’t so!!!! Please reconsider and find a way to bring him back, please

It is not Jack that is buried in Coal Valley.
I would Love to see Jack continue to be in the show as there is no other kind of movie or show blessing our world more than When Calls The Heart. But we can’t force actors to choose goodness over garbage which is running rampant on the big screen as well as TV. So hoping other good actors will be chosen or currant ones will have a change of heart and want to stay or come back.
When is the show coming back on! WCTH is my favorite show. Am sick you took it off. Give Lori another chance. Everyone makes mistakes. You’re making a very big mistake taking the show off.
I love When Calls the Heart it’s my favorite show ever I am of Season 5 I am taking my time because I don’t want to see the episode where Jack dies. This show is like a little piece of heaven.
I wish they did not killed Jack off in the show – have him captured or MIA so unfair they just got married – Jack, Elizabeth, and Abigail are the heart and soul of the show. I know Hallmark has fired Lori Loughlin but whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Why isn’t the colleges involved not being held accountable for accepting money from the stars? So unfair to the show and to its viewers. My husband is a fan also and feels the same.
When is Season 6 of When Calls the Heart finished. And when will Season 7 start.
