About Dr. Dee: Alaska Vet
From treating reindeers and moose to California King snakes and the family pet, caring for animals across the last frontier is a full-time job for Dr. Dee Thornell. Dr. Dee is so dedicated to the welfare of creatures both domesticated and wild that she often flies her plane across the state to reach the most remote patient. The second season of DR. DEE: ALASKA VET premieres Saturday, July 16th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Animal Planet.
This season, Dr. Dee and her husband, Ken, spend much of their time traveling to remote villages - where sometimes there are almost as many dogs as humans – to hold low cost spay and neuter clinics, as well as provide medical care to the local animals. In true Alaskan spirit, Dr. Dee and Ken have started rescuing unwanted and stray dogs by flying them back to Fairbanks to find forever homes, inspiring them to start their own rescue.
Back at the clinic, Dr. Dee and her team continue to service the animals including a pot belly pig that’s ornery when amorous, a stallion who has developed a tumor and 17-year-old Stubbs the Cat, who is the honorary mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska, and suffering from a kidney disorder. Plus, Dr. Dee finds orphaned baby owls that need a safe place to grow up before being released back into the wild.
Between traveling across glaciers and mountains to enduring sub-zero temperatures and endless days without daylight, there is no more challenging place to be a veterinarian than Alaska. Despite myriad challenges and risks, Dr. Dee Thornell has made it her life’s mission to care for all animals of the Land of the Midnight Sun. After starting her veterinary business out of a pick-up truck, she now owns and operates Animal House, the most sophisticated veterinary hospital in Fairbanks, Alaska.

I feel that the new episode on July 16 was just plain out cruel to the male bulls. I am sure there is a better way. My nephew say it and got upset because the bull was being hurt. How would you like that done to you.
NEmene says
You’re joking, right? We used to use a pocket knife while they were very young and very awake. Some people band them and cut off blood supply until they fall off. It has to be done. Bulls are top dangerous to have more than one. We bought sperm to breed our cows. It’s a win win. Get high quality sperm and don’t have to worry about a bull killing someone!

I would like a show where Dr.Dee has a conversation with a woman that has suffered mutilation of her female parts. Maybe not comparable. 100% but similar.
Then Dr.Dee and other vets and farmers will learn THE PAIN THESE CALVES ARE FEELINGS.
Michele Stewart says
Oh brother….
Jean says
Are you serious? You are a vet right? You think this is torture? Maybe you just shouldn’t watch. You have that option. I’ve seen animal torture & mutilation and this is not it. Maybe we could just give them medication so they don’t have the URGE to reproduce instead of castration. Let us know when you produce it. Give me a break.

Please keep Dr Dee on T.V. As a disabled person who watches tons of T.V. I’m hear to tell you that any T.V. shows that the over 50 age group like seem to always get cancelled! Television is geared to under 50 age group, however that group are to busy to watch tv because they still have young families, they DVR everything and delete most of it! PLEASE keep the good shows like Dr. Dee on T.V.!

Please Animal Planet….just let us KNOW what is going on with Dr Dee Alaska Vet. If you want loyal viewers, how about giving us at least the respect of knowing what is going on with the show. This was one of my top shows. I only started watching your network because of this show. Other than Dr Poll And Dr Jeff there’s not much else I stay interested in. Other vet shows fall flat. Give us the courtesy of an answer, please. Thank you.
Sandra Gupton, RN says
Animal Planet, I continue to watch Dr. Dee’s reruns on your station as I do with shows. My question is: Why the delay in having her return? As a loyal viewer, I would like very much for her show to return. My husband and I have a farm (that we have cattle and a few horses) in which we so enjoyed the knowledge we shared not only with us but with all her viewers. So I make my plea with you to bring her and her colleagues back on the show. Please.
