About Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Season 2 release date - March 11, 2017 on Disney XD.
“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy” is an action-packed animated series featuring the ragtag band of disparate misfits introduced in the 2014 blockbuster live-action film of the same name. The epic space adventure follows Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer as they dedicate themselves to protecting the universe
The series opens with the newly formed Guardians of the Galaxy discovering a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed, which legend has it, is capable of giving birth to the next universe, or annihilating this one. It’s up to this unlikely group of heroes to find, protect, and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power – from galactic big boss Thanos to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki. Along the way, they’ll visit planets both new and old, uncovering secrets from each of their pasts and doing everything in their power to keep the most deadly forces in the galaxy away from destroying the universe.
Filled with positive messages for kids and families, “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy” touches upon themes of redemption, friendship, family and doing the right thing. The series features a bold color palette combined with a visual mix of 2D animation, CG elements and VFS. It also includes 1970s pop music and the signature song that has become synonymous with the franchise, “Hooked on a Feeling.”
The voice cast includes: Will Friedle (“Boy Meets World”) as the brash adventurer Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Trevor Devall (“Johnny Test”) as fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall (“Star Wars Rebels”) as the enigmatic, expert fighter Gamora, David Sobolov (“Transformers: Prime”) as the rough-edged warrior Drax the Destroyer, Kevin Michael Richardson (“The Cleveland Show”) as tree-like humanoid Groot and James Arnold Taylor (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”) as leader of the space pirates Yondu and the telepathic dog, Cosmo.
