The Last Kingdom Season 2 released March 16, 2017 on BBC One, with the second season streaming from May 5, 2017 on Netflix US.
The emotionally complex and compelling landscape of revenge, rivalry, hostility, corruption, love, sex, loyalty and friendship, forms the backdrop to a gripping adventure based on Cornwell's novels, The Lords Of The North and Sword Song – part of the hugely popular bestselling franchise The Last Kingdom.
Set in the year 878, the second series returns as fearless and instinctive warrior Uhtred continues his fight for his native land of Northumbria. Uhtred, having given his sword to King Alfred, despite his upbringing by the invading pagan Danes, embarks on his voyage north to reclaim his own fate: to avenge Earl Ragnar’s death and recapture his ancestral lands of Bebbanburg.
Alfred’s conviction to create a united England is stronger than ever, and he sets his sights on the wild lands of the north, which have fallen into chaos and rebellion. It is a dangerous time for Saxon and Dane alike, but Alfred champions a new king - a Christian Dane - to unite the tribes. However, this king has been enslaved, and Uhtred becomes embroiled in a rescue mission, which brings him face to face with an enemy of old.
Alexander Dreymon (American Horror Story) returns as Uhtred, alongside David Dawson (Peaky Blinders), Emily Cox (Homeland), Ian Hart (Boardwalk Empire) and Tobias Santelmann (Marcella) from the first series. They are joined by new cast members including Thure Lindhardt (The Bridge), Millie Brady (Legend), Peter McDonald (Thirteen) and Richard Rankin (From Darkness).

Awaiting season 3 of the Last Kingdom. We love this show! You have to bring back Erik somehow.
Check out the books = the Saxon Saga – by the greatest living historical fiction writer. Season 1 and 2 have covered the first three books. He doesn’t defeat his uncle and claim his inheritance until book 9.
Love the Last Kingdom. I found it on Netflix last week, binged watched the series in 7 days. You have to bring back season 3. Does Uhtred become King of his kingdom and what are his adventures along the way. We need resolution on King Alfred’s daughter’s pregnancy and when does Alfred learn the true ways of her husband. Can’t wait.
I too love the Last Kingdom………….Need to finish the adventure of Uhtred!!! Need my fix, when can we see more. Please continue your dream of making your show. We need to finish our dream of watching it!!
Love this show, it better come back. It must come back again and season five and six would be even better.
I have read almost all of Cornwell’s books – this series is one of several I would recommend! I thought The Last Kingdom was faithful to Cornwell’s depiction of this period and enjoyed it immensely. I too hope for not only Season 3 but more!
